Tempest in a Tulip Patch

$200.00

5″x7″ colored pencil drawing of red and yellow tulips.

Description

It’s hard to grow things in Montana, but these tulips came up year after year, as if to prove to me they were tougher than the Montana winters. This particular batch were spectacularly beautiful and I couldn’t resist painting them. You may notice the keys hidden in the stems. This piece is also part of my “Unreconciled” series. In this series, keys are symbolic of things left behind in my past that were never quite resolved. The dense forest of tulip stems seemed full of mystery to me, so I added the keys to explore that mystery a bit more.
