In this fun, low-pressure, 6-week course, we will work on a pet portrait from your own photos, or photos that I provide (your choice). You can choose to paint one of your own pets, a friend or loved one’s pet, or you can draw one of mine. We will cover the basics of good composition, color theory, and blending. We will also work on realistic drawing skills and simple techniques for easily translating your image accurately from the photo to your drawing. Since pets aren’t known for their ability to sit exactly as we would like for the perfect portrait composition, we will also work on how to remove unwanted objects and replace backgrounds and foregrounds so that they look as if they were in the original picture. Students from beginner to advanced are welcome and I will have something for everyone to take you from wherever you are (including “I’ve never done a colored pencil drawing before”) to completing a pet portrait you can be proud of. All supplies will be provided.

In this fun, low-pressure, 6-week course, we will work on a watercolor landscape painting from your own photos, or photos that I provide (your choice). We will cover the basics of good landscape composition (foreground, middleground, background), how to create realistic depth in your paintings using atmospheric and linear perspective, color theory for maximum dramatic effect and realistic light, and how to make the most of the luminosity only watercolor paint can provide. We will also work on realistic drawing and simple techniques for translating your image accurately from the photo to your painting. Students from beginner to advanced are welcome and I will have something for everyone to take you from wherever you are (including “I’ve never done a watercolor painting before”) to completing a landscape you can be proud of. All supplies will be provided.

Ceilon Aspensen, award winning artist and art teacher for over twenty years, will be teaching a 3-day watercolor workshop in which students will either follow along and paint a painting exactly like the one she am painting, or they can paint one of their own in a similar theme/style from their own photos or from photos she provides. Each day will consist of painting time from 10-12:30am and 1:30-4:00pm. Ceilon will guide the students through the elements of art, principles of design, color theory, and the mechanics and techniques of watercolor painting. The course will be suited to both experienced watercolor artists who want to improve their technique and skill as well as beginners who have no experience at all. Ceilon creates a low stress and fun teaching environment where play and experimentation are encouraged, mistakes are non-existent (because every “mistake” is really a serendipitous opportunity to transform something into a new idea), and everyone leaves with a finished painting they can be proud of. Ceilon also assists students with their drawing skills and gives them three ways to improve the realism and accuracy in their drawings, because good drawings are the basis for good paintings.
Limited space available. REGISTER NOW.
